Background
Motley Fool Supernova is a premium model portfolio service focused mainly on growth stocks. Originally launched in 2012, this service only opens its doors to membership once a year. After a few blockbuster campaigns, we decided to take a different approach this time around. The central theme of this campaign was about spotting trends that will carry 10 years in to the future, and pinpoint — and invest in — the companies that will be at the forefront. Hence, Supernova 2026.

I'm telling you... something about those old World's Fair posters and advertisements really strike a chord with me. Maybe it's the excitement of what folks thought the future would look like... or just the vintage "futuristic" design elements... either way, I thought a "World's Fair" theme would be the perfect feel for this campaign. I tried to blend "vintage future" with our three investing themes and cooked up distinctive designs that carried over into the rest of our assets which included reports (print and web), interactive hotmaps, and videos. I even included a nod to Nintendo's golden age. That's right, I did it. So here's to blowing into our respective game cartridges of life and hoping for the best.

We ran this campaign over the course of 3 weeks, unveiling each theme one at a time in order to build interest leading up to the grand opening of the service. We generated a strong and engaging hotlist, and after it was all said and done, we surpassed our revenue targets by a mile.
